wire, and other things

This is a wire and string model. One thing i noticed within it was a likeness to John Lennon (in a cubist sort of way). Unfortunately with all of the shadow in this image I struggle to see it. However I really like the shadows, they add a real depth to the image.

This was part of my 7 project. Each of the 7 layers is made up of 7 septagons, with each septagon being 7cm between corners. The septagons were cut from paintings i did of planets relevent to the seven planets visable to the naked eye. I ordered them in the order that the days of the week are related to them eg. Monday-Moon. At first I had each layer resting on a rung of the image below, but this proved difficult so I used string to hang them from the ceiling.

These are the original rungs/hoops which held my seven project. That proved difficult, so in the end I kept them on their own. In the light I took this picture it was very shiny, i loved that effect, and so i believe it a great model in its own right.

Went down to the crossroads...

This is my print and stich rendition of Robert Johnson. I took the image from one of the few photographs that exist of him. I suppose being photographed in his day was a very rare thing. I used blue for the print (for the blues naturally), and red for the stich. That represents the legend of Robert, going to sell his soul to the devil, and in return being able to play the guitar real good.

activating space soundtrack by MikeyRid

activating space soundtrack by MikeyRid

This is the soundtrack I created for the activating space project. It's purpose was to add to the atmosphere of the experience, to create a tension, and mystery. But after being in the space for a while, it was also found that it created a hypnotic peacefulness. The track was left on repeat for the full experience.

It was created with sound samples of the working process involved in the collective task of creating the space. This included sounds of sellotaping, cutting, footsteps etc. I reversed some of these sounds too, taking a nod to some of the great psychedelic music which featured reverse sounds; such as Tomorrow Never Knows by The Beatles, featureing its reversed seagull sounds. I then added a droney bass, and piano plinkety plonks. I still don't know how the bleeps got in though.
